We are often asked about how to remove warts naturally. Some people are concerned about the potential side effects of medical treatments for warts and some are worried that commonly-used medical treatments, like burning off warts or cutting off warts, will be painful. Some want to spare the expense of things like cryotherapy, a procedure in which warts are frozen off, and laser therapy. Some just prefer to use natural treatments for health issues when effective natural remedies are available.
Natural Cures For Warts
There are many purported ways to remove warts naturally, although many home remedies may be more myth than medicine.
Garlic
One home remedy for warts is to rub crushed garlic on them. According to Web MD, however, there is no evidence that this is an effective way to remove warts naturally. Garlic is cheap and readily available, and it certainly won’t hurt you to try this remedy, but it probably won’t help, either.
Duct Tape
Duct tape isn’t exactly a natural substance, but it’s not a pharmacological substance, either. Applying duct tape to warts has long been rumored to be a cheap and effective way to remove them, but anecdotal evidence isn’t quite the same as scientific evidence. Like garlic, duct tape is cheap and readily available, and it probably doesn’t have any side effects, although you might look a bit odd going around with pieces of duct tape stuck to your skin, especially if you have warts in highly visible places like on your hands or face.
Oregano Oil
Oregano oil is known to have anti-infective properties and is believed by some to remove warts if applied daily to the skin daily for several consecutive days. We’re not sure how effective it is, though. It should be safe for most people, although some people may experience an allergic reaction or skin irritation.
Urine
This is one of the more unusual natural cures for warts. We couldn’t find any information from medical sources about whether or not it works, but even if it does, many people may be reluctant to try it. Anecdotal sources say that if you soak a cotton ball in your urine and then tape that cotton ball over a wart, applying a fresh urine-soaked cotton ball each day, after several days the wart will disappear.
Thuja Occidentalis 6X
Thuja Occidentalis 6X is a homeopathic remedy used to treat warts and other skin disorders. It has other uses, as well. When used to treat warts, it’s usually applied directly to the wart in a liquid form. It’s also available in an oral form, however. It’s generally safe for most people, but you should check with your doctor before using it if you’re pregnant, especially before taking the oral form.
